Another Round...

Yes you guessed it...

Someone is sick...

Again.

It isn't the flu but still no fun.

When someone is sick that means my day gets all turned upside down and sideways.

I had my day all planned out last night...

1. take Jamison to letter school at 8:30am
2. go visiting teaching at 9:15 am
3. gym class at 10am
4. clean house for #7
5. pick jamison up from school
6. make lunch
7. showing on the house
8. visit teach again at 2:30pm
9. pick kids up at 3:50pm
10. make dinner
11. make a cake for the blue and gold dinner that's tomorrow

I was doing good up until #3.
I didn't make it to the gym,
forgot about #8,
and didn't feel like doing #10.
(yes i did feed my kids, leftovers)

The hubby just got home so we're doing #3 together at 9pm.
It's never too late for the gym.

Maybe tomorrow will be better...
I don't think so.
The kid still has a fever
and the parents have dentist appointments.
Something has gotta give...
I will sacrifice my dentist appointment for the good of all mankind(haha).

P.S. I dislike the dentist a lot!

My Mom's Birthday

Happy Birthday, Mom!
I love you!

My Mom wraps presents wonderfully.
It is amazing.
I tried my hand at wrapping nicer than usual.
I think the colors are great, even if Jessica says she picked them out.

The bow on top is my favorite.
I saw it on a blog and thought I might try it.
I made it out of felt.
One of my new favorite mediums.

I made her dinner tonight.
I went to her house and my sister, her hubby and their little(not so little anymore) girl joined us also.
We were missing Sean but she got to talk(text) with him while we were there.
Dinner was yummy and a fun night.
I did the dishes and cleaned up and came home.

P.S. We are sorry about the leak under the sink.

Date Night

I woke my sweet hubby up from a nap at 5:30pm tonight. I thought it would be fun to go out for dinner. I was right. We had the best food. He then took me for "no sugar added" yogurt. It was so nice to be out and happy.
I love you Babe! Let's do it again...real soon.

P.S. He was sleeping because he was up all night putting the t.v. in the car for me. A trip to Southern California with 5 kids needs a t.v. Thanks babe for buying and installing it. We ALL appreciate it.

Nothing & Everything

I have nothing very exciting to say or show you today.
Sorry!
I am still doing the wellness challenge and feel real good about it.
I haven't been able to get all my bonus points.
I should be happy about that.
But...
I am not.
I lost the points on stupid things...
like forgetting to eat a fruit.
I am hooked on the gym.
I love to go.
This morning I was trying my hand at making a fruit smoothie.
It didn't go very well, at all.
I was so frustrated.
All I could think about was going to the gym to burn off some anger.
I went.
I tried a new machine and worked hard.
It felt great.
Most days I go to the gym in the morning.
By the evening I am ready to go again.
This is amazing to me.
I am enjoying teaching my children about health.
I am also on a cleaning schedule.
I purchased one on line and am pleased with it so far.
Why did I buy a cleaning schedule?
I felt it might help me stay on track.
It does.
I think I get more things done regularly.
I also think I'm able to get some things done that I want to do.
I read another book.
I am working on a quilting project that will be done shortly.
That is exciting to me.
It's a St. Patrick's Day quilt for my piano.
I might be able to make one for my entry table as well.
I am feeling good.
I am so glad I decided to do the challenge.
I have won so many blessings for participating.
I have new commitments and am pleased.
My family has noticed a change for the better.
My family encourages me everyday.
Thank you!
I appreciate it!

Jewelry Roll

I made this for Jessica. It will hold all her accessory needs.

I think it's extra neat that it rolls up. The test will come when it's filled if it still rolls.

I wanted to share something that I made but really not motivated to do much else. I should be making dinner but nothing sounds good to eat. I'm sure the kids are going to ask soon and I will have nothing for them. I should be doing a million things but reading and writing on my blogs are sometimes so much more fun. I am also tired from the workout today. It feels good and I can't think about missing my class but I am still tired nonetheless.

Leap Frog

This is Scribble & Write from Leap Frog.

I purchased this for my 6 & 4 year old.

This is a little young for the 6 year old but it never hurts for extra practice.

This is really great for my 4 year old. She loves being able to practice like the big kids.

This system helps by showing the kids the basic letter concepts first.

It starts with straight lines, curved lines and zigzag lines.

It shows them where to start with lights and where to write with the lights.

There is also a game that if they follow the moving line it makes a picture.

I thought this was a great buy for $25.

I have decided to make a little bag for it so we can take it places easier, especially shopping.

French Dip Sandwiches For Lunch

Heaven In A Sandwich!

This was the first time I made this.

I am sold.

This is so YUMMY!

You can't tell in the picture but it was still steaming.

I have become a new follower of The Pioneer Women.

This is her recipe and I will definitely use it again.

She likes to use Dad's iPod.
She loves to go to the circle store, Target.
She loves to eat carrots with Ranch Dressing.
She likes to stay up late.
She likes to sleep in.
She likes going to the gym with Mom in the mornings.
She is not a fan of pancakes and breads.
She likes ham and cheese.
Her favorite thing to order at restaurants is Mac N Cheese.

I am so happy to have her in our family.
I love you baby girl.

Do You Ever...

Do you ever have a day that didn't turn out the way you thought it would?

Do you ever think that things aren't going the way you thought it should?

Do you ever get anything done in a day?

Do you ever think you aren't doing things you should?

Do you ever think you aren't the friend you should be?

Do you ever think you aren't being the Parent you should be?

Do you ever think the world is against you?

I seem to be having one of those days...AGAIN.

I just wasn't able to commit to the day.

I didn't get to exercising today...I chose to do the dishes instead.

I didn't get that shower today...I chose not to exercise today...because I did the dishes.

I didn't vacuum today...I chose to go to Jo-Ann's.

I didn't finish the laundry today...I chose to get my hair done.

In the process of not getting much done today, besides cute hair. I realized that other people affect my day. Whether it's the things they say to me, or to others, being left out by others, or not being able to feel how I do. I am tied to other people's emotions more than I should.

I need to rely on my inner feelings about myself. I need to feel the presence of my Heavenly Father more in my life. I need to let go of preconceived notions. I need to stop thinking about myself and think of others.

My family is wonderful. Jaelynn wanted to spend time with me tonight. Jackson wants me to read him a book before bed every night. Jessica was out for the evening, supporting a friend. Jamison loves to play video games and Jillian was happy watching netflix on the iPod. I love my kids. Thanks so much for loving me just the way I am.

My parents are wonderful. They think of me everyday and care for me. I love to laugh with them and share funny stories with them. Kevin and I love to watch "White Collar" with them. It is so much fun. Thanks.

My good friends are fabulous. I appreciate them in my life. They lift me up when I need it and listen to me when I need to vent. Thank you.

This wouldn't be complete without a Thank You to my Hubby. You are the bestest ever. He makes me happy and helps me see the good in myself when I don't. He is so good at making me laugh when I want to cry. He holds me tight when I do cry. He helps encourage me when I want to quit. He is my best cheerleader and I say Thank You! I Love You, Babe!

Kid Size Messenger Bags

I came across this bag in a book I borrowed from the Library. My sweet Hubby returned it to the Library, like I asked before I got a picture of it, sorry. This book is one of my favorite's. Along with this bag.

I made this one for Jaelynn, she just loves purple.

This bag is for sweet Jamison.
This fabric was a little trickier to sew with but turned out perfect.

I always liked bags and purses when I was little. My kids seem to also. This is just the right size for them. I made one for Jackson when he started scouts last year. It was made with cameo fabric and I used a belt, that was cameo, for the handle. He loves having it for scouts. I would love to make more of these. Maybe with flowers or buttons on it, who knows. The possibilities are endless.

Coin Purse

I made this little number. Jackson needed something made with love for Valentine's Day and this is what I decided upon. He loves to earn and save money, for a short period of time. He loves to buy things with his own money. I was hoping he would like this. He LOVED it.

Valentine's Day Dinner

I put the kids little gifts in lunch sacks and had them in the center of the table. Jackson helped me set the table. It was so nice that he helped me .

I made Chicken Parmigiana. My Mom loves this so I found a recipe by Bobby Flay. I have decided I really like the Food Network website. I will use it again.

It looks so good to eat, too bad I need to cook them more and add stuff to it.

The sauce, the freshly sliced mozzarella cheese, and fresh parmesan, is ready to go in the oven.

It was so delicious. I ate leftovers for lunch today.

This was our sugar free dessert, lemon mousse.

This was one of my favorite dinner's, this year! HaHa!

I did go to the after Valentine Day sales. I was able to get cards for next year and the things to wrap the kids presents in. I found a new blanket for Jillian, considering that she is still using some baby blankets. I also found a Minnie Mouse Memory game.

Happy Valentine's Day

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

I made this earlier this month and just love it. I used a foam heart, 3" circles of felt, and straight pins. I needed almost a yard of felt to complete this project. I hung it by my front door in the entryway. This was my first crafty project for Valentine's Day. I am pleased with how it turned out.

Tomorrow morning I hit the after Valentine Day sales to stock up for next year! I am completely out of everything. I must not have found good stuff last year. Wish me luck!

Through The Looking Glass

Jaelynn and Jessica were in a play, Through the Looking Glass, at their school, Christine Donnell School of the Arts. They have a Drama teacher, Mrs. Smythe. The auditions were announced for 60 cast members and 120 kids turned out. The girls were very excited that they had made it in. I was now busier because I had to pick them up from rehearsal 2 or 3 times a week for 6 weeks at 5:30pm, the middle of dinner time.

Jaelynn was happy to be in the play but didn't like her itchy sparkle outfit or the makeup. She was a "Responsibility". In the play Alice becomes Queen and Jaelynn and the other girls come out to sing a song about the Queen's new responsibility.

Jessica loved her part a, "Dixie Chick". Humpty Dumpty happened to be in the play, I'm not sure why. He sang a song to Alice in country and Jessica and the other girls were the backup singers. This is what Jessica enjoys a lot. She loves singing and dancing. She said she would do it again. Look out High School here she comes.

I am so glad that my girls like this sort of thing. I never liked to do things that involved singing in front of people. Or at all for that matter. I was not able to do dancing either because I was on crutches every year since I was in the 4th grade. I don't feel that I missed out at all. I want them to be able to try anything they want to determine if they like it.

MY GIRLS ROCK! I LOVE YOU!

Update: FHE Treat

The applesauce dessert was a 50/50. I thought it was so nice to eat my applesauce warm with a crumb topping. I would like it better from the oven, not the microwave. Next time, I would like to use granola instead of crushed graham crackers.

Magnetic Paper Dolls

This is the cute little metal box I found to hold my cute paper dolls. I had been looking for something that would travel easily. This was a Hot Cocoa Kit that I found at Walmart. I took all the labeling off and emptied the inside and voila. A perfect container for little hands.

This is one of my favorite things that I have made in a long time.

I used my Cricut machine to cut out all the pieces.

My girls had fun going through my scrap paper to find cute outfits for the dolls.

I glued all the pieces together and lamenated them all.

I then used an exacto knife to cut them all out.

I had self adhesive thin magnet that I attached to the back of each piece.

These are some of the dolls I made and dressed up.

Yes, I know the animals are out proportion but that is all part of the fun.

I made these for my 4 year old for Valentine's Day.

I wanted to make something for each of my kids for Valentine's Day this year.

This is a day to celebrate Love, why not make something with my hands instead of buying something.

I also made this for a gift for my niece who turned 3 last month.

I think this might be fun at Church for the girls. Nice and quiet.

Especially, on Stake Conference days. They will stick nicely to the metal chairs.

My family never makes it in time to get the padded seats.

Kids Say The Darndest Things

Yesterday, while driving in the early morning, everything was covered in frost. Jillian was so excited to see it. She was repeatedly talking about how Jesus painted everything with "Sparkle".

Jillian is also saying things like, "Jesus wouldn't like me doing that" or "Jesus likes me to do this".

Today in the car Jamison said,"That's like Turbo Tax". I was surprised and asked,"What?". He responded,"The commercial on t.v." I then proceeded to inform him that he shouldn't know anything about Turbo Tax. He said,"It's on t.v. It looks fun." I then told him it was for adults to help them pay money to the government. He said,"Oh". A little later, while still driving, he mentioned it again. I told him what it was and he seemed a little bummed he couldn't play it.

The only other thing I can think of, is that Jessica is never without her iPod. She has many friends and is always in constant contact. She has made a new friend recently and they are sending messages back and forth frequently. Today this friend sent her 14 messages. Kevin and I are really glad she doesn't have a cell phone with texting on it. Yes, Jessica you are not getting a cell phone anytime soon. Love you!

Thinking

I have been stuck, not in the past but just stuck.

I wanted to have another baby. Heavenly Father blessed me with another one and I couldn't have been happier. However, I lost my sweet Johanna. A week after that I was rushed to the E.R. and came close to dying. I leaned on my Testimony of Jesus Christ and seemed to move on. I still wanted another baby but was torn. I prayed for guidance and help. One night during my prayer I felt it was time to try again. I told Kevin with reluctance. He was not ready to see me so sick or so close to death. We left it up to the Lord. Shortly after, I was expecting again. I couldn't believe it. An answer to prayer and a miracle I thought. This didn't last and I lost Jeannie. I needed to tie my tubes at this time for my health. I know that this is what I was to do but I was so sad and ANGRY. At times I felt that my body betrayed me. I am still working on overcoming my human emotions toward these events. I think I'm doing o.k. and then something triggers my sadness. My time between each one is lessening.

I am not sure what to say at the moment. I am working on things to improve my life and my family. The wellness challenge at church has really helped. I feel better inside. My focus has always been my kids but I'm taking an even bigger part in helping them grow and to learn. We are focusing on our extended family as well. I want to be a closer family. Things happen for a reason. However, we don't always get to know what those reasons are. That is a principle of Faith and I am working on that everyday.

I am not sharing this for you to feel sorry for me. I writing this to perhaps help me grieve and move on a little bit more today. Maybe my story will help someone else one day. Maybe....

Homemade Wood Floor Cleaner

I like to make homemade products. I have decided that one day this may be useful.

This is my favorite book. I make several things from here.

To make wood floor cleaner it is very simple. All you need is warm water, castile soap, and vinegar.

You will need a bowl. Mix 4 cups warm water, 3/4 tsp castile soap, 1 Tbsp. Vinegar. When you add the vinegar it will turn the water milky.

I put my liquid in a spray bottle and spray it directly on my floors.

I use this mop.

My floors are all done, simple.

FHE Treat

We were sitting at the dinner table and the kids asked what was for the treat tonight. I had been thinking about this today. Considering that we are a no sugar zone I couldn't think of anything good to make. But, when the kids asked I said I was going to microwave applesauce with crushed up graham crackers on top. I was partly joking but the sweet hubs thought that it was a good idea. We made it, in the oven and added cinnamon. It smells great. I will let you know how the kiddos like it.

Pumpkin Pancakes

On Fast Sunday we have a family tradition for dinner. We love to eat Pumpkin Pancakes. They are our absolute favorite meal. Everyone likes them. They are very filling and yummy!

A visit to Utah

The family just got back from Utah. Those friends I talked about yesterday, they had a son who chose to get baptized. We of course chose to support him and left yesterday at noon. Got in just in time for yummy pizza and a night full of games. The kids have really missed their friends.

Today we got to visit Kevin's brother in Layton. I was worried the kids might be bored at his house, considering he's a bachelor. I was wrong. They played xbox and loved it. Had dinner at Carl's Jr and came home.

It is nice to be in my home again. It was a short trip but well worth it.

The Great Dalmuti

If you have never played this game, you should. The cards have funny pictures of people on them. No that's not why you should play. The game is fun. It is played with just cards and luck. Kevin and I have some very good friends that we like to play this game with. We have so much fun and laugh a lot. Enjoy!

Ten years ago today was a most amazing day in Kevin and my life. This little girl in the picture is Jaelynn, our 2nd daughter. She was 14 months old when this happened. It was early morning 7:20 on a Saturday. The girls were up and watching a Disney Channel show. In the neighboring room Kevin and I were relaxing on the bed talking with each other. There was a noise that sounded like someone knocked into something. I got up to inspect. It was Jaaelynn on the floor. We are still not sure exactly what happened. She was having a seizure, a massive seizure from either bumping into something or a fluke. However, I picked her up and she was seizing. Her eyes rolling into the back of her head. I was terrified. I was on the phone with 911, getting dressed and asking Kevin to give her a Father's Blessing. I thought for sure she was going to die in my arms. I was convinced of it. The fire department showed up and she was in a coma. Kevin had a brother who lived nearby and was on his way to help give Jaelynn a Preisthood Blessing. I was taking care of the transportation for my little girl. An ambulance was needed to take her to the nearby park, Los Serranos, to meet the medi-vac helicopter that was going to take her to the hospital. It was an hour drive away from use so the helicopter would be faster, a 7 minute ride. I watched her lying on my sofa with 5 of the biggest firemen around her in there big yellow suits. She looked so tiny. They were not able to awake her. I was really nervous. The arrangements were made for transportation, the ambulance arrived, Brain showed up to give her a blessing, my parents showed up to get Jessica to take care, and Jaelynn did finally wake up after 15 minutes. It seemed longer than 15 minutes. I was so thankful but not sure what was to come. They put her on a gurney and wheeled her to the ambulance. I was not allowed to go with her. There is no room in the helicopter for a Mom. It is full of medical personnel so they could take care of her. I watched the ambulance drive away and waited to hear the helicopter. It flew right over our house. I couldn't get to the hospital fast enough. That was the longest hour drive in my entire life. I wasn't sure what I was going to find when I got there. It was terrible. Kevin and I showed up at the hospital and asked for Jaelynn Meyers. They said they had no-one by that name. I was freaking out now. I said you had to, I saw the helicopter on the pad when we pulled in. They said they lost the information for the patient and named her Zoey. I was truly freaked out and just wanted my little girl. We were lead through hallway after hallway and we found her. I was relieved to hold her in my arms. The doctors were not able to determine what happened so they had to release us. Kevin and I couldn't have been happier. We did have a cat scan to make sure nothing was wrong with her brain and that came back clean. She hasn't had another seizure since. I am thankful but think about it often.

We love our Jaelynn Faith and are truly blessed to have her with us in our Family.

Pinewood Derby

Jackson had is very first Pinewood Derby last night. Jackson had to stay home from school yesterday because he had a fever and really didn't want to miss this. You can tell in the picture he was so excited to be participating.

Jackson spent a lot of time with his Dad working on this project. He designed the car including paint job. He won for the best paint job. He was so excited about that. Kevin made him do all the work that was possible for an 8 year old. Jackson told me sanding was "hard work". He was determined to do a great job and he did. I am so proud of him.

Jackson was able to race on this very high tech race track. All the boys were able to race twice on each track. They had 49 heats total. Jackson had good races like this picture. He came in 1st. He also came in 2nd, 3rd and one 4th. They did winners for all the Dens and Jackson came in 1st for his Den. He was so excited. All the kids had a great time and enjoyed cheering on Jackson. They of course had donuts for dessert and Daddy let them have one. The excitement might have been bigger for that than the races. It was great. Looking forward to next year's race.

I am so very grateful for a Hubby who is talented in this kind of thing. If it was up to me it would be a block and painted purty. Of course I would add some stickers, flowers or Hello Kitty. HaHa. He definitely likes this car more than the one I could have made. Good Times. Way to go Boys!

Fully Loaded

2 adults + 5 kids = a fully loaded laundry shoot (dirty)

It is Laundry Day at The Meyers House. This should keep me busy for a couple days.

My laundry shoot is located above my laundry room sink and goes up to the second floor about chest high (adult chest high). This was filled all the way to the top. This is not typical and the Hubby thought it was blog worthy.

P.S. I figured out how to put pictures on the blog. Yeah for me!
